Recently India became a home to various musical bands and artists who came, performed, and mesmerized. From Ed Sheeran to Diljit Dosanjh, Coldplay, India has been getting musical treats recently. However, amid all this, one Indie-pop music band, Cigarettes After Sex, canceled their Bengaluru show hours ahead of the concert.
The performance was scheduled at the Bhartiya Mall in the city on Tuesday, which was canceled at the eleventh hour. The band issued a statement on their Instagram Story citing ‘local production issues.’ They also apologized to the fans who had already gathered at the venue and were looking forward to the performance.
“We’re heartbroken to announce that due to technical difficulties which were the responsibility of local production at the venue & beyond our control, we’re unable to perform & unfortunately have to cancel tonight’s show in Bengaluru. We’re so incredibly sorry we can’t see you all tonight & truly tried everything we could to make it happen (sic), their statement read.
The band assured the fans that their refunds will be initiated and processed soon.

The last-minute cancellation of the Cigarettes After Sex concert left the fans frustrated. Many raised questions about Bengaluru’s infrastructural development. A netizen taking a dig at the situation wrote, “Shift the venue to Ahmedabad. You can do it the best way possible (sic).”
Further, a few internet users complained that the ticketing platform should have intimidated the audience about the cancellation of the concert through e-mail or message.
Cigarettes After Sex planned three performances as part of their world tour in India. The concerts in Delhi-NCR and Mumbai were held on January 24 and January 25 without any issues, but the last concert in Bengaluru was called off.
