Music history was made once again at the 2025 Grammy Awards as Beyonce took home the Best Country Album award for Cowboy Carter.
The award, presented by Taylor Swift, sent shockwaves through the audience and across social media and Beyonce herself, who couldn’t hold back her surprise at her win.
“I really was not expecting this. Wow,” Beyoncé said as she took the stage to accept her award. “Genre is a cold word to keep us in our place as artists … I’m still in shock. Thank you so much for this honour.”
Before making her way up, the superstar sat frozen in her seat for a moment, visibly surprised, as the crowd erupted in applause. Cameras captured Jay-Z and their daughter, Blue Ivy, standing proudly and beaming at her win.
Beyonce’s win is a historic moment—she becomes the first Black woman to win a Grammy for a country album, following in the footsteps of the Pointer Sisters, who won in a similar category in 1975.
“They say you never forget where you came from,” Taylor Swift remarked while presenting the award, recalling her own Best Country Album win nearly 15 years ago. The moment was a significant crossover between two of the biggest stars in music history, both of whom have navigated multiple genres with immense success.
Beyonce, already the most-decorated and nominated artist in Grammy history, continued her record-breaking streak with yet another milestone. She also secured a Best Country Duo/Group Performance win for her collaboration II Most Wanted with Miley Cyrus.
Adding to the anticipation of the night, Beyonce remains a top contender in several major categories, including Album of the Year (Cowboy Carter), Record of the Year, and Song of the Year (Texas Hold ‘Em).
