Ajith Kumar’s latest action thriller, Vidaamuyarchi, has performed well at the box office, collecting Rs 62.75 crore in its first four days. While the film has managed to surpass the four-day earnings of Ajith’s previous release Thunivu which earned Rs 55.5 crore in the same period, it still falls short of Valimai’s impressive Rs 79.3 crore four-day total.Vidaamuyarchi, directed by Magizh Thirumeni is reportedly inspired by Jonathan Mostow’s film Breakdown which has achived cult status at the box office.
Vidaamuyarchi opened to solid number of Rs 26 crore on the opening , riding on Ajith’s star power and the anticipation surrounding the film but then the film dropped to Rs 10.25 crore on Friday to see a small spike on Saturday and Sunday as it earned Rs 13.5 crore and Rs 13 crore respectively. The action-packed entertainer has found a decent audience, particularly in Tamil Nadu, where Ajith enjoys a massive fan base..
An important factor to consider is that Thunivu was released on a Wednesday, giving it a five-day extended weekend. By the end of its first five days, Thunivu had earned Rs 67.4 crore, surpassing Vidaamuyarchi’s four-day total. This means that if Vidaamuyarchi does not maintain its pace in the coming days, Thunivu might still emerge as the bigger box office winner.
Despite the slightly lower numbers compared to Valimai, Vidaamuyarchi remains a solid performer for Ajith. Ajith Kumar is also slated to have another release this year which is titled Good Bad Ugly and he would be sharing screen space with Trisha Krishnan once again and Kissik sensation Sreeleela.
