The controversy around India’s Got Latent is escalating, with Assam Police issuing summons to YouTubers and influencers involved. Ranveer Allahbadia, Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Makhija, and Samay Raina are named in the investigation, as confirmed by the police.
ANI reported, “Assam Police has given summons to YouTubers Ranveer Allahbadia and Ashish Chanchlani. Summons will also be served to Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Makhija, Samay Raina, confirms senior officials of Assam Police.”
The Maharashtra Cyber Cell has issued a second summons to comedian Samay Raina, asking him to meet with the investigating officer on February 17.
The comedian’s lawyer has informed the authorities that Samay Raina is currently in the United States and won’t be able to attend the summons until he returns on March 17.
Meanwhile, Samay was also set to perform a 1.5-hour set called Unfiltered in Gujarat. However, reports suggest the shows have been cancelled to avoid potential protests and disruptions at the venues.
The controversy began when judge Ranveer Allahbadia asked a provocative question about parents, which sparked outrage online. Samay Raina and Apoorva Mukhija were seen laughing and allegedly using abusive language, leading many to criticize the creators for promoting obscenity.
On Wednesday, Raina announced on X that he removed all episodes and would cooperate with authorities. An FIR has been filed against the team for allegedly featuring objectionable content.
