Ranveer Allahbadia, who is known for his BeerBiceps YouTube channel, has landed in hot water after making controversial remarks about parents and sex on comedian Samay Raina‘s now-deleted YouTube show India’s Got Latent. The comments have triggered widespread outrage, prompting multiple complaints and police investigations. Several celebrities have condemned Ranveer’s remarks, and now Aashiqui actress Anu Aggarwal has shared her thoughts on the controversy.
When asked about the increasing vulgarity in the name of comedy, Anu Aggarwal told Instant Bollywood, “You know, when you become famous, everyone targets you. I have been through this myself. People linked the smallest things about me to baseless rumors. As far as Ranveer is concerned, he has achieved a lot. I am not judgmental. We all make mistakes. Who can say they haven’t?”
However, when it was pointed out that making such remarks privately versus on a public platform carries a difference, she agreed, saying, “That is true. Maybe he made a mistake. This could be a wake-up call for him, and he will learn from it.”
Following the backlash, Mumbai and Assam police teams visited Ranveer Allahbadia’s residence on Friday as part of their probe. However, officials found his flat locked.
According to sources, Allahbadia had been summoned to appear at the Khar police station on Thursday for questioning but failed to do so. As a result, a second summons was issued for Friday. Ranveer had reportedly requested that his statement be recorded at his residence, but authorities denied the request.
In response to multiple FIRs filed against him in different states, Allahbadia has approached the Supreme Court seeking dismissal of the cases.
Apart from Allahbadia and Samay Raina, others named in the Assam case include popular content creators Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Mukhija. The Assam police team met with Maharashtra Cyber Department officials to coordinate investigations.
Meanwhile, Mumbai police and the cyber cell, conducting their independent probes, have summoned Raina for questioning within the next five days. The Khar police have already recorded the statements of seven individuals, including Makhija, Chanchlani, and Allahbadia’s manager. However, no FIR has been filed in Mumbai yet.
Additionally, authorities plan to question Pratham Sagar, the video editor of India’s Got Latent, later in the day. The Maharashtra Cyber Department has also summoned around 50 individuals, including show participants, for further inquiry.
On Thursday, actor and reality show personality Raghu Ram, who was part of the judging panel on India’s Got Latent, recorded his statement with the agency.
