Harshvardhan Rane and Pakistani actor Mawra Hocane made their Bollywood debuts with the romantic drama Sanam Teri Kasam in 2016. Though the film underperformed at the box office upon its initial release, its recent re-release has outpaced its original collection in just two days. Mawra, who recently tied the knot with Pakistani actor Ameer Gilani, has finally reacted to the overwhelming response to the film’s second run in an interview with Faridoon Shahryar.
Sharing her thoughts, Mawra said, “To be honest, if the film has waited nine years to achieve these numbers, I think it’s my husband bringing in the luck for sure. Because the only thing that has changed since then is this (Mawra getting married). The film was always there, and everything was there.”
She playfully added, “I truly feel it’s the marriage luck because it’s literally the same dates.”
Reflecting on the love the film has received, Mawra expressed her gratitude, saying, “Of course, it is unbelievable for me too, the love that we are receiving. I can see some things, and I am sure I am missing out on a lot. But all that I can see is very overwhelming. I can only be grateful for it.”
She further acknowledged the unwavering support she has received from Indian fans ever since Sanam Teri Kasam first hit theatres.
Mawra and Ameer recently exchanged vows in an intimate wedding ceremony attended by close friends and family. The couple, who shared screen space in Pakistani dramas like Sabaat and Neem, had long been rumored to be in a relationship. While they never publicly confirmed their romance, their dreamy wedding photos left fans elated.
