The Federation of Western India Cine Employees has appealed to the government to grant tax free status to Vicky Kaushal starrer Chhaava.
In the note, FWICE has stated, “Chaava depicts the incredible story of sacrifice, bravery, selflessness and sense of duty of the legendary Maratha Sambhaji. The movie is applauded by all age groups and the youth is greatly influenced by the story depicted in the movie.”
Ashoke Pandit said, “We appeal to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to give it tax free status so that more and more people go to watch the film.”
Earlier, the Mumbai Dabbawala Association also made an appeal to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, requesting that ‘Chhaava’ be declared tax-free in the state.
As per a Mid-Day report, the association has written to the CM, highlighting how the film authentically portrays the struggles and bravery of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Subhash Talekar, the president of the Mumbai Dabbawala Association, stated that their ancestors were part of Sambhaji Maharaj’s army and fought alongside him on the battlefield. He emphasized that both Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj hold immense respect among their community, making this film an important tribute to Maratha history.
