The entertainment industry is mourning the loss of yet another beautiful and talented star – singer Angie Stone, who lost her life in a tragic car crash on Friday in Montgomery, Alabama.
The news of her demise was confirmed by her daughter, Diamond. “My mommy is gone,” she wrote on Facebook. Further, veteran promotor Van Silk confirmed the shocking news. While speaking to AllHipHop, he said, “I received a call from her team stating that Angie passed. I thought it was from her kidney dialysis, which she was going through, but it was a bad vehicle accident with 9 people in the Sprinter van coming from a show in Alabama heading back to Atlanta. Angie will be missed especially by me because we will either text or call each other in the morning.
Angie Stone was in Alabama for a performance. According to a Forbes report, on Friday, Angie along with nine other band members, left the concert venue. They were on their way to Atlanta, Georgia in a Sprinter van when the accident occurred.
Angie was one of the most loved members of the iconic hip-hop trio The Sequence, the first all-female group signed to Sugar Hill Records. The band released three albums from 1979 to 1985, featuring popular tracks such as ‘Funk You Up.’
In 1999, Stone launched her first solo album titled ‘Black Diamond,’ which was named after her daughter, Diamond. Later on, she transitioned into acting and starred in movies such as ‘The Hot Chick’ (2002) and the Kevin Hart comedy ‘Ride Along’ (2014).
On the personal front, Married Rodney Stone in the 1980s, Stone had a daughter, Diamond, in 1984. It looked like a happy picture, but a few years later the couple parted ways. In the 1990s, Stone got into a relationship with neo-soul artist D’Angelo. They welcomed their son, Michael D’Angelo Archer II, in 1998.
