Fatima Sana Shaikh, who became a household name for her role as Geeta Phogat in the Aamir Khan-starrer ‘Dangal’, faced significant challenges after the film’s success. She has spoken candidly about the pressure she experienced, revealing that she grappled with self-doubt and the fear of failing to meet the high expectations set by her performance.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Fatima talked about the challenges she faced after ‘Dangal’ and said, “I did feel a pressure of not living up to the image and benchmark I had created. It created self-doubt that people might think I am a good actor, but am I truly one?”
The fear of carrying a film alone initially held her back from solo projects, as she worried about the audience’s response if things didn’t go well. However, working on ‘Ludo’ eventually shifted her perspective. Reflecting on that period, she revealed that after ‘Thugs of Hindostan’, she struggled with self-confidence. Over time, she learned to accept failures and mistakes, realizing that what truly mattered was showing up for herself and performing her job with confidence.
Following her notable performances in ‘Dhak Dhak’ and ‘Sam Bahadur’, Fatima will appear in Anurag Basu’s ‘Metro… In Dino’, ‘Ul Jalool Ishq’ alongside Vijay Varma and Naseeruddin Shah, and the romantic drama ‘Aap Jaisa Koi’ with R. Madhavan.
Meanwhile, ‘Dangal’ is a compelling sports drama about Mahavir Singh Phogat, who trains his daughters for the Commonwealth Games. Fatima Sana Shaikh shines as Geeta Phogat, while Aamir Khan plays the determined Mahavir. The film, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is a powerful tale of perseverance and ambition.
